Carnitine, derived from methionine and lysine amino acids, is found in nearly all cells of the body, and beneficial effects of this component is more related to L isomer of it. L-carnitine plays a critical role in energy production; it transports long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria so they can be oxidized ("burned") to produce energy. It also transports the toxic compounds generated out of this cellular organelle to prevent their accumulation.
Side effects of this product are rarely seen including gastrointestinal complications such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, heartburn, diarrhea, flatulence. It can also cause the urine, sweat and breath to have fishy odor.some other side effects include:gout, allergic reaction or airway inflammation, exacerbation of athma and seizure.
